Getting the Wheeling Fever
Three days ago my 4WD indicator, battery, and parking brake light failed to turn off after I start up my '97 Rodeo (well, Passport..). Normal operation is that they all come on when it starts, then a few seconds later they used to all turn off if each of the systems (assumably) checked out.

Two days ago I lost my AC/fan (AC wouldn't light when pressed, no blower..).

Now this evening, I lost a LOT of power. Felt like my winter drive button was stuck on - I tried to hit the power button to no avail.

Any ideas?

I hate to say it, but what you are describing sounds like the textbook example of what happens when your alternator fails or is failing.

Thanks - you're 100% right. I found out shortly after I posted, as I was driving home.

If just my battery light came on I think I wouldn't have dismissed as not being an alternator/battery problem. When the multiple lights came on, I just assumed that it was an electrical/wiring/computer board problem.

Oh well, now I know! I actually just got back from that parts store with belts and a remanu'd alternator. $280 ($75 core charge).

OFF TO PLAY MECHANIC!

Thanks again,
Gary
