A single mom friend of mine had her 90 (built 06/89) Mitsu Mirage 1.5L with EFI, AT 4dr suddenly not want to start friday (just before she went into labor friday night. tabs expired and her SOB landlord is going to tow it tonight if I don't have it gone) I'm trying to get it running and it appears to be a no fuel thing. If I put some gas into the intake, it runs briefly. I pulled the fuel return line and no fuel comes out when cranking or short running. Trying to find if there is a fuel pump relay or fuse (none under driver's side of dash or the 3 boxes under the hood I checked) I pounded on the bottom of the tank while it was being cranked and it didn't kick start the pump. Want to be sure it's the pump before dropping a full tank of gas to get at the intank pump (not accessible under the back seat. Just the fuel level sender is there)
PS: I bought the useless Children, err Chilton's manual which doesn't even show the fuel pump in the index! I looked through and no talk of relays (other that how to test them which I already know)

Build your truck the head men say, but it must be built in such a way...

I don't know the answer. But you might try posting on Google / Groups. Go to Google, then Groups. Then walk through to "alt.autos.mitsubishi". Someone there should have an answer.
Good luck

A cheap part you can throw at the problem is a fuel filter. They do sometimes get clogged, don't cost much and don't take long to replace.

On the montero there's a fuel pump check circuit near the ECU that allows you to plug in 12v power to it & check the operation of the fuel pump - if this vehicle has an in tank pump this would one of the first things you should check. Unless there's an access hatch in the trunk, you could have a hard time continuing the diagnosis, tho'...

Well, I found a link to a Mitsubishi turbo forum and they said there is a red/black wire on the firewall I can jumper to get the pump working, but it's basically more likely the PCM that went bad. In fact, they said even if I find a working used one to send it out because there was a writeup on the net about how the capacitors used tend to leak and cause board burnout (they go POP when there isn't enough oil to cool them!)
