Sidewall problems with Revos? #410647 03/03/04 02:46 AM

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I got a set of Bridgestone Revos last month and they are absolutely awesome tires. However, I had a very minor brush up against a rock with the left rear tire and it looks like the outer layer of the sidewall is peeling off at the point of impact. I hope this is not a sign of things to come as I plan to get a lot rougher with these tires.

Anybody else seen this?

A little contradiction here?

They aren't exactly mud terrains!

On a tire such as the Revo, severe terrain is not their forte'. If you are going to get rougher than you either need a good tire warranty or step up to a purpose built tire.

There are much too many trade offs to list between going either way. Did you read this? Forum Tire and Wheel FAQ

Many times I think I should buy some Revos on some bling rims for the street and just change to the MT/R's for wheeling. LOL, for as much wheeling as I've done lately, the MT/R's will last a lifetime .

Mike,

The FAQ is great. I bought the Revos because my off-roading is "light to moderate" (unfortunately!). I was just wondering if the peeling rubber on the sidewall is a defect or if others have seen it. Other than this incident, they're great for the driving I do. Someday, maybe I'll need those MT/Rs.

Thanks,
Phil
