Roll Me Over
I'm at a conference and one of the guys has a rental Jeep Cherokee (I got a stinkin' small Chevy car!)

The Jeep has an MPG computer in it that says he's getting 13 miles/gallon. THis is much less than they advertise, and reminded me of a previous post with a link to a person who got ride of their cherokee and made the same MPG comment.

What say Rodeo / Trooper drivers? You can never get what is posted for MPG, but how are you guys doing on MPG? You should be averaging about 19 if you average out city/highway.

I can get the advertised 21 mpg on highway, but only if I do not exceed 55 mph. I believe they don't exceed an average of 50 mph on EPA estimates of highway mpg. I really start taking a dump at the pump when I run it over 65 mph. Winter is worse miliage due to the 3.2 doesn't seem to like the winter fuel blends. But overall, from my conversations with other owners, it seems the Isuzu mpg estimates are accurate.

Well,I have never sat down and figured out my miles per gallon, but I usually tank up when the gas guage hits 1/4 tank and if I baby the go pedal and keep it right at 55 on the interstate I can squeeze 250 miles out of 3/4 tank! I have talked to several other SUV owners who say this is good but I am coming from the world of small compact cars so to me this sux, but I luv my zu...even if she thristy as a camal!

As my Rodeo sits now I average just under 16mpg. I have gone as high as 19mpg on the highway, but that was once quite awhile ago. Being that I do mix my driving between freeway and city driving almost daily I feel it is pretty good...especially considering I have the 3+3" of lift and larger tires.

I drive a stock 2001 Trooper and get an average of about 16.5 mpg. I've been getting around 17 lately for some reason, maybe more hiway driving, although I push the 75 mph speed limit whenever I'm on good pavement . Gotten as low as 12 hauling a trailer and never gotten better than 18 or so. Actually got worse by about 1-2 mpg when I put on a K&N cone filter for about 1000 miles, although the power was noticably improved. FWIW

After I got 285/75/16 tires the Trooper did 13.5 MPG. Last week I put back my stock size tires, and looks like it make 12 MPG. May be this happened because I have to push it for higher RPM for get same speed.
On 285 the Trooper eats one tank for trip from LA to Las Vegas.
By the way, I never have MPG, which displayed on sticker.

Just so you know, using the gas gauge to figure mileage is going to be pretty inaccurate. The only close to accurate way to do it is to take the number of miles you have driven on that tank and divide that by the number of gallons the pump says you put it when you fill it back up.

but how are you guys doing on MPG?

'91 Trooper with the 2.8...

Have gotten as high as 21 MPG, but usually in the lower 20's on the freeway. Recently had to do a couple of 800 mile round trips, mostly freeway, so I played around a bit trying to figure what affect my new performance chip had.

At 65 (where I normally drive - I know, but dammit I AM a grandpa now! ) I got about the same, 20.2 to 20.4.

One tank I pushed it up to 70, mileage dropped to 19.5, another I tried 75, I was down to 18.2 on that tank.

My daughter used to have a Jeep Cherokee, I don't think she ever got above 16, even on the freeway...

My rodeo is getting like 13-15 ever since I put on the 33's I suspect it will only get worse when I go to 35s. I used to get about the 16 that Jonesy claims when I was on 265s.
