Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have a problem that has just started appering the last couple of months. When I am stopped at a light or waiting in line or something, with the truck in drive, foot on the brake, air conditioner running, the warning lights start in dimmly come on. The volt meter also drops below 12 volts. If I put it in neutral and rev the engine a little, the lights go off and the volts rise. My question is do I have a weak battery or is the alternator going bad? I also seems to be worse when the weather is wet. Anybody got any ideas?

Take her to AutoZone during the day, they will do a prety thorough check on the alternator battery and starter, and its 100% free. Make sure you are SURE what the problem is before you go replacing stuff, them alternators are not cheap.

Does the idle speed still seem about right? If the engine idle drops low enough, your charge light will come on even if the charging system is working properly.

I don't have a/c, but isn't there an idle-up solenoid to compensate for the a/c?

Make sure your belt is tight. I had close to the same symptoms as yours and I had an oil leak that was putting oil on the belt.
