Mike & Toddzu,

I did consider the Electrac for my rear axle, but 1st thing was I had a GM 10Bolt at the time and was unable to find a D44 that I considered affordable. I went with a 12 Bolt (courtesy of DOR) so I could run 4.56 gears at the same time. Simple swap. Third Member and rear axle. Any way long story short I went with the ARB.

The person who did go with the Detroit Electrac was JG? screen name of ErnestShakleton out of SoCal.

Thread discussing install here

Cheers Matt

You can choose to pay for ARB's compressor or come up with a cheaper solution... I use Matt's C02 tank setup, and have one of these for backup: http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/caddy_comp/

Well...you *HAVE* Matt's Co2 setup, I wouldn't go as far as saying such a strong word as *USE*, for your current situation.

Perhaps Randii has filled his tank with some other gas, which would account for his referring to the use of the vehicle in the present tense rather than the future conditional.

I truly appreciate the input fellas! All things being equal, however, I'm a fan of Detroit Lockers and I really prefer the idea of an electronically actuated locker as well as the D.E. failsafe mechanism, versus plumbing the compressor and (sketchhh) air lines in. (I know the ARBs a great product!) But hey, That's me! I have one other question. Where do you guys think I could find a good price on the D.E.? Any outfits out there you would recommend? Again Thanx alot, and Aloha!
P.S. I said option-Not less expensive option!
