Subwoofers in a Tacoma Double cab? #414459 03/09/04 05:52 AM

Has anyone managed to get a subwoofer in a Double Cab? They make all kinds of Subwoofer enclosers for the Standard cab and extended cabs but not the Double cab. The Double cabs don't seem to have much Storage room for that kind of stuff. Any suggestions without compromising the "stock" look too much? A friend of mine put a camper shell on and cut a hole through the cab to the bed. Then put the box half way between and sealed it real good. I'm not that crazy...

Nope, dont think they've made special enclosures for the DC. I know JL makes them, but not for that model. So you might just have to get real good upgraded speakers for it, or add a tube style sub. I've got some truck speaker boxes with 10" Orion subs. Two of them, in Audiobahn enclosures. Look real nice, just tested them with a regular CD deck and they sound super awesome. Brand brand brand new.

The only SW enclosure I've seen for the Dcab sits as a center console in front of the rear seat. I'm still looking for one that doesn't steal any passenger room. I've also heard of people cutting out the floor under the rear seat for mounting the subs, but that's a little to extreme for me.

That center console yor talking about is the JL audio stealthbox for the TUNDRA not the tacoma double cab. If your willing to spend a little cash find a place that makes custom boxes. They can look at the vehical and find a place to fit a sub and make a custom fiberglass box to fit. cost about 300 for the box.

Here's one that fits behind the rear seat but it's only for 6.5" subs...not very big.

The box I saw as a center console was a custom box for the Dcab.

Ok, I found out the skinny on the center console. http://photos.yahoo.com/zaldyman69 The guy's name is Rizalde Marquez.
"My friend and I built a box for a JL 10w7 that replaces the center console. The box extend to the rear passenger and the woofer is facing downward to the floor(internal Vol. about 1.19 cu. in. We just finish wrapping the box with vinyl and cant wait to get it playing. We could have built it using fiberglass, but it takes more labor time and money. I havent taken a picture but if interested let me know."

I've tried to email this guy and am awaiting a response. I'm sure he would be willing to reproduce this unit for a price. here's his email.. zaldyman69@yahoo.com
