After checking Sea Foam's page for the Motor Treatment product, I see there's a few different areas to which you can apply the product.
What Sea Foam steps has everyone been taking to address the notorious ticking on the 3.2 engines? My intuition, though not always correct, says I'd only need to put it in the oil. Is that correct?
I've also read that you can leave it in the oil. Is that was everyone's been doing? I'm a little leery to do so, though that's only because I'm leery of other additives such as Slick 50 .. which really doesn't fall into the same category as Sea Foam. I was thinking about just runnnig it for about 500 miles, which is what some owners of Z28's do.
I was also planning on running the engine with 0w-30 Mobil 1 per the TSB, and also adding SeaFoam. The TSB indicates that you should run the engine for 30 minutes, which sounds like it's written for the shop so that they can get the vehicle back to the customer. I'll probably leave the 0w-30 in there until the ticking (hopefully) stops and then replace with a slightly higher viscosity oil (the 0 weight likes to leak) and also use a Mobil filter (I heard that helped as well, though assume would just increase the pressure to help the oil circulate through the problem areas - but damn, those filters are expensive).
Apologies in advance for asking what may have already been addressed -- I couldn't find the info using the search toosl. Any comments would be welcome - Thanks.

http://users4.ev1.net/~sanaghan/Vehicle/Index.htmScroll down to Valve / Lifter noise for a summary of all the disucssions. More recent discussion have been on adjusting hydraulic lifters. It does depend on what engine you have. I was just educated that the 3.2 chattering is hydraulic (solutions above work) but the 3.5 engine is different and the solution does not work. 3.5 Info here Try searching Tech on +engine +tapping Go back "Older than 1 day" to get all results.

I did the sea foam in the brake booster, gas and oil! Let me tell ya.......I think it made the ticking noise worse in my case!! Try doing a flush with gunk motor flust then changing the oil. When I put the sea foam in the oil if I tried to go over 65mph my motor sounded like it was going to blow up!! I then did the flush and changed the oil and it makes no sound at all!!Just turned 160k on 93 troop.

I'll post just b/c I tried this about 9k ago with good results. Do the searches, though, as well, to get lots more info.
I have a '95 Trooper with 105k+ miles on it. At 96k I put in about 1/4 can of Sea Foam just prior to an oil change. By just prior I mean about an hour before. I then ran it up and down the street for that hour, trying to keep it above 2000rpm. I then changed my oil, switching to Mobil1 5w30 (could not find the 0w oil). Since then, I prolonged my intervals to 5k between changes and for the past 9k the ticking has all but disappeared. Rarely I will get it on a cold morning but even then it lasts for less than 3 minutes, and the ticking sound itself is much less than it used to be.
Just my $.02.

I wouldn't recommend running the seaform in the engine for more than a hour. I use 1/2 can right before every oil change. Put it in and the run around the block, maybe 4-5 miles, then change the oil. In that short period of time the oil thins out so much its no wonder Mike's truck was making so much noise. Mike its probably why your doesn't tick anymore...damn stuff clean everything completely Mark

bosch makes a very good filter that is all but indistinguishable from the m1 filter and is half the price. i use both. even with m1 filters, it's still cheaper than a tear-down. m1 filters are only at autozone, but bosch are available at most import shops and many chain stores. i've been running 0w-30 for about 2yrs with no trouble (ok one pesky oil leak, but that's not the oil's fault). i run it year round but we only get a high of 90 maybe three days a year up here.

I like sea foam and have used it a few times, pretty sure my fuel injection is cleaner. My question is how does bg44k and other bg products compare ?

Thanks for the input all. My Sea Foam should be delivered tonight, so I'll run that through before changing the oil out.
But first things first, my starter just failed. What a PIA that is to get out...
