Can someone tell me the specs on trooper/ amigo axles? Hub face to hub face width. Available stock ratios and where to look on the vehicle at the junkyard for the axle code? How well will these hold up to V8 power (280 ft/lbs estimate). Thanks in advance.

The axle ratio code should be on the underhood option sticker/plate. You can reference it to the list at ITOG University .

The bigger question in my mind is what leads you to source these axles and how are you expecting to get power from the v8 to them? I'm assuming custom driveshafts, but I could be off. Others will have to fill you in with durability and dimension info.

WHICH Trooper/Amigo axles? Year (and in some cases, production month?) Axle type, width, and gearing varies based on the dates and vehicles.

Any Isuzu axle made after the split to the 12-bolt Isuzu Corporate axle should hold up well to a small-block V8. Toyota axles are of similar design (but smaller in every dimension) and they hold up well...

quick bit of info for you regarding trooper axles...

the older ones....like 88-95 are a little narrower, i want to say 56" is what comes to mind....i'll try to get a real measure fore you.

the later ones (96-99) are a couple inches wider (ase the newer troopers got wider)

there is an ARB available for the early and late version.

RD44 - fits the 87-95's w/ 1.32" 26 spline axles

RD85 - fits the 98+ w/ 1.50" 23 spline axles

so early axles:

more common
narrower: 56" +/-
smaller shafts BUT....higher spline count
ring gear roughly sized like a Dana 44
locker: ARB
gears: 4.56, 4.77. 5.38

late ones:

little wider
little bigger brakes
larger shafts, BUT lower spline count
Larger ring gear - roughly like a 60
locker ARB
gears: 4.30's (i think) (5.38's available Internationally)

Thanks to all for replys. That's what I needed to know. As to why, I was trying to see if I could find a ready to go centered rear axle to put in a landcruiser frame. Stock width is 55.1". This weekend I was able to find the minitruck axles I needed for the conversion of the stock LC axle. I'm working up the nerve to actually cut the housings on my mitre chop saw and bash the two. That is the preferred option as the LC has a 9.5" ring gear and 30 spline axles.
