My ex wife has offered her 95 Trooper to my son for his first vehicle. He wants a daily driver with light trail capability. The only complaint he has about the Trooper is the constant steering corrections even with stock tires. I have not driven the truck for obvious reasons. What type of steering gear does the trooper have? Front caster adjustments? Steering stabilizer? What is the size trail tire that will fit on stock suspension with 1" body lift? Thanks in advance. BTW I used to have a 91 Trooper and loved it.

This trooper uses the same recirculating ball type steering as your old 91. The camber and caster is adjusted via shimming out the upper control arm. Fitting larger size tires has as much to do with tire width and wheel backspacing as it does with tire diameter. A 1" BL will help gain some more clearance though.
Hit up a search and try 95 trooper 33, to see how what others have done to make 33s fit. If you want to go smaller tires, then searching will help you find what is necessary.
I have a 1st gen so my mods to make 33x12.5 tires fit do not apply to your 2nd gen trooper wheel wells.

You might try this.... I found this in the talk section from a few weeks ago. (from strawmyers post)
Pop your hood and look straight down at the steering box. There should be a flat square plate on top with one bolt in each corner, and a nut with a screw going through it in the middle.
Loosen that middle nut, while not allowing the screw in the middle to turn with it. Now hold the nut stationary while you tighten the screw 1/4-1/2 turn. Now, once again without allowing the screw to move, tighten the nut back down. You can fine-adjust it to where you want..... just know that 1/4-1/2 turn makes a big difference, so don't just start turning the screw without keeping track of how much you've tightened it. Good luck <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
[edit]May help to hit that screw/nut combo with some PB Blaster for the next few days before trying to tighten anything

Thanks for all replys. I have done that steering gear tightening on my Mitsu. Hmmn, that was 5 years ago; probably time to do it again... BTW, I double checked on that trooper, It's a 94 V6 Auto. What's the stock axle ratio? Whyat axle is in the back? A D44 maybe?

trooper, Whyat axle is in the back? A D44 maybe? No D44 in Troopers, ever. Rear axle is the Isuzu corp. 12-bolt. Heck of a beefy axle, but you are limited to ARB or lincoln(or Miller, or Hobart, or ESAB) for lockers. I love my ARB, but its a pretty big investment.
