Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
My 1992 Isuzu Rodeo XS has been driving GREAT since I got it, with the exception of what seemed to be a front wheel bearing (pulling to the rigth even at high speeds), but turned out to be a mystery. Also I know I need new shocks.
Got a high milage oil change.. symptoms 2 and 3 started since that oil change
1st symptom: occasional SES light
2nd symptom: tranny seems to have a mind of its own, seemingly losing power / slipping even when simply cruising at speed (VERY WEIRD FEELING). Sometimes doesn't happen at all, and sometimes happens for a few minute interval and then seems to be ok ? ? So Not heat related ?
IT COULD BE MY IMAGINATION, BUT it seems like this symptom kicks in on turns, or after bumps in the road. In fact, the first day that it happened, I had slammed on the brakes and skidded about 20-30 ft (oops).
3rd symptom: Speedo occasionally stick at 25mph mark
What I have done:
- Seafoam the fuel system - Oil change - Tranny additive (thick expensive bottle)
What should I do next ?

I'm getting the tranny filter replaced, and checking the intake manifold o-ring ground wire. Hopefully I don't get raped at this repair shop

I'd go to autozone and get the codes pulled. Then post back.
The falling on it's face and half stalling is probably not the tranny, it could be your map sensor. I had a car act like that before and it was the MAP.
Just a thought, maybe you could test it or have it tested.

Well I went to autozone... they didn't have the right equipment to pull the code
Anyways, I think I pinponited the problem... this is only happening in what feels like overdrive (4th ? ) gear. Does that = tranny rebuild time for sure ?
