Without ANY warning whatsoever!

47K...Went to pull away from a light and she felt like someone was holding me back...or like a brake was hung up...or the emergency brake was on...

Then she flat out wouldnt move without revving up the RPM's...Which I of course did NOT want to do!

No leaks to be found. Towed to Isuzu, under warranty, but what the !@%& could this be?

Body Damage is Cool
Sorry to hear that. I know how having car problems can be an absolute nightmare.

As to a diagnoses.
Sounds like the torque converter is not working. Possibly extreme low fluid level? Or an output bearing on something (transfer case, tranny, rear diff) is sized. Maybe the parking brake is sized, the cable got kinked, or the parking brake pads broke in peaces and are jamming up the drum. Or a wheel bearing is completely seized causing drag. Or the clutch plates in the transmission are not disengaging.
ItÆs really hard to guess without looking at it, and having more details. It should be fairly obvious when you get it up on a rack and start spinning things. Hope it all works out.

Could be a computer error and that the tranny is defaulting to 'limp mode'...which sticks it in 3rd gear. 3rd gear starts feel like someone is definitley holding you back until you're way up to speed. Hope it's not serious. Keep us updated!

just curious...but did any check transmission/engine lights come on? if not, you might check the alternator. might transmission went into limp mode once. no warning lights were tripped. turns out my alternator was not putting out enough current under load. good luck, taro

You didn't put it into "winter" mode did you? That will keep you out of 1st and start you off in 2nd gear. ItÆs a little button on the center consol next to the "power" button.

When mine goes into Limp-Mode, which is pretty often now. You should be able to shift manually, until it can be reset. Mine usually needs to turn off the engine restart to get it working normally. If your tranny gets a faulty electrical signal it will put itself into Limp-mode, so you might just have a ground wire that's worked loose.

Probably worth checking into - Also, I second the opinion to check out your alternator. Get a cheap volt meter and check voltage across the battery terminals with the engine running and with the engine off.

Good luck

Thanks guys, but when I say she wouldnt move, she wouldnt ENGAGE without reving her up and then would suddenly do so accompanied by some ugly clunking and grinding...

Ohh... not good at all. Major tranny problem! Defiantly tranny, or TQ. Possible gearing, clutch plates? I don't know, IÆm not a transmission dude.

I just spent 1250, getting my transmission fixed. Not pleasant at all.

You, like I, must be a 2nd owner, then...I'm still under the 5 year, 60K warranty...Were you over on the miles?
