I bought 18' of coaxial cable at the local truck stop and started threading it though the driver side body panels so I could put it through the hole in the tailgate where the E.T. wires go (spare mounted antenna). It was a PITA getting the wire through the rubber flexy going to the door until I poured some olive oil into it to lubricate things a bit. All the time I was thinking about how to properly handle the excess because I read it was better to keep the full 18'. Well, as I neared the end I realized I was 4" short of what I needed! Who would have throught a Amigo/RS would need over 18' to go from the dash to the tailgate! I'll go to Radio Shack tomorrow to buy 20' of type 58 coaxial cable. When I was a high school shop teacher I would tell the kids, "Measure twice, cut once."

Check and see if there is a loop or something in the line.
I also bought 18 feet and ran it the other way. Starting in the back door. Across to the little rubber connector, out from under the plastic panel, under the carpet following the tranny hump and up under the console. I even had some leftover that I loosely coiled behind the dash.

Hey Kevin,
You may have run your cable a more direct route, but to do it you would probably had to pull up carpet and remove the seat. I ran the cable along the front driver side (carpet under petals) and along the entire side to the back, which takes a little more cable, but is much easier. I wanted to keep the cable away from areas where it might be crushed. I'll look for a loop like you suggest, however. It will only take me a few minutes to rerun a longer cable. I haven't put the plastic panels back yet.

Goodness! I have 18ft in my Gen1 Trooper and basically did the same thing... through the door panesl and rubber grommets all the way back and out the back door... and I had plenty left.. it's coiled up inside the back door... I know the Trooper is a good bit longer than the Amigo... I think your truck ate some cable somewhere! -lol

I think your truck ate some cable somewhere! -lol AGREED! Pete, I also have an 18' cable, and we KNOW my Rodeo is longer. I ran mine from the antenna - along the back of the tire carrier - down and behind the bumper - into the cabin through the body cavity access cap - behind the rear interior panel - under the carpet - along the lower edge of the door frame - up behind the kick panel - then behind the dash and over to the center console. Throughout its journey, the cable practically meanders its way along, completely out-of-sight and away from harm... and yet I still had a little more than a foot left over. There must be some sort of mini-Bermuda Triangle in that Amigo of yours... I simply can't imagine how YOU ran out of cable when I didn't. [* SHRUG *] HTH - Good luck on tracking it down! Cheers! Smiley

Pete, It's not very hard to run the cable under the carpet toward the center of the truck right at the back seats. There should be a break in the carpet there with velcro to reattach it to itself. From there slide it down to meet the center console and then bring it out and tuck it under the plastic. That'll leave you with plenty left over. --jeremy
when looking for a container to hold drained brake fluid, find a container that is different from the beverage you are currently consuming.
