Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have an almost-12-inch crack running horizontally in the center of my windshield and need a replacement (not repair).

One of the more reputable places (Safelite Auto Glass) quoted me $312 for a replacement while another (linked above - American Patriot Glass) quoted me $200 for a replacement. Both are supposed to be OEM and come to you to fix it. Both companies have a good standing with the BBB.

Any particular reason you can think of as to why there would be such a huge price discrepancy ? I have liability only for insurance so that's out (deductible is too much anyway).

Go with the cheaper glass. My insurance covers mine, so I can't wait until my little crack gets bigger. Besides, my windsheild looks like it has been sandblasted. On another note, there are a sure to be a few places near you that install used auto glass if you really want to do it cheap.

i had mine replaced about a month ago on my trooper and it ran around $200 from a reputable business. i didn't skimp on my windsheild because i did not want any air/water leaks. i called around to 5 different companies and got an average of $160-$230. I ended up doing business with the most expensive shop but they adjusted their price to $190 to be more competive. i realize it's not a pup, but just for your reference. hope you find this info useful.

thx for the responses. I called safelite again and they said they'd be able to drop it down to $255 to be more competitive. Think I should go with them (more reputable to me) or still pay $50 less with that other company ?
