you'll want 5.29s with 35s

Yes, just get new ring & pinions. If you plan on using 4wd, be sure to change both front and rear gearsets. They can be done one at a time, just don't engage 4wd until both gearsets have been changed and are the same ratio.

Toyotas use a removable third member (shown below) that houses the differential and gears, unlike a Dana axle. You can swap this chunk for another, or change the ring and pinion gears in your existing third member. As noted, 5.29s will put your motor back in the powerband and help you turn those big tires. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/faq/parts/3rds.jpg)

If you plan to stay at 35, and not run some heavy tire like a swamper, you could go the most economical route. Find a salvage yard and get two toyota 8" third members with the factory 4.88s. Those would be worlds better than your 4.10s and you should be able to get a front and rear third for 400-500 and could install yourself.
With that said, 5.29s would be a better ratio.

you want the same ratio in both diffs. are you talking about different types? since you have an '84 it takes an 8" third member front and rear(straight axle in front). you can get your diffs out of any '79-85 4x4 front or rear, and any '79-95 rear. the 86-95 rear diffs from trucks with a turbo or v6 are stronger, and will fit the front or rear of your truck
if you want those 4.88s that somebody mentioned above, you should look at the rear axles from a '92-95 4runner or pickup that came with an automatic and 31" tires. the axle code should be "G144". might be hard to find 2 of them though
