Previous Thread Next Thread Print Thread Rate Thread ROUGH IDLE LEAKY INJECTOR #439368 04/22/04 01:32 AM Anonymous Unregistered I have a 1989 comanche pioneer that is all stock with a 4.0 L, automatic transmission, and multi port injection. Recently the # 3&4 fuel injectors started to leak gas. I replaced the plug wires and this fixed the leaky injectors. But now the idole is very rough and at about 45mph the truck seems to start missing. The truck loses power and feels almost like the clutch is slipping. I would appriciate any thoughts on what the problem could be . injection problem multiple choice short in electrical system (0%, 0 Votes) vaccum leak (0%, 0 Votes) No Votes Yet Voting on this poll ends: 05/01/04 12:31 AM Re: ROUGH IDLE LEAKY INJECTOR #439369 04/22/04 02:16 AM Anonymous Unregistered have you verified that the clutch is not slipping?? have you also ohmed out the plugs wires you put in?? do you put in new plugs?? if so did you check the gap?? are you saying that replacing the plug wires fixed the leaky injectors??? if so then you still probably have an injector issue. have you checked your fuel pressure recently?? have you replaced the fuel filter recently?? you may have a bad plug wire or imporerly gapped plug. also a clogged fuel filter will cause the vehicle to lean miss under load, so will a bad fuel pump. Also, Yeah, I'm also curious how replacing the plug wire(s) fixed a injector leak. Careful not to run this too long with leaky injectors. Gas wash will cause engine damage.
