Hey all - Vic is looking for a Torque Converter for his 88 Trooper - auto tranny AW30-80LE.

At Car-parts, what little they had were priced at the same or more than the dealer - go figure. We'll be checking w/ Merlin and Jerry tomorrow but was wondering if anyone out there who's got one laying around.

Please call Vic directly if you do at 208-631-2912.

Thanks!

Methinks you're looking at the wrong thing then. I just found one on car-parts a couple months ago for $50 + $25 shipping. The price for OEM from Merlin was $959. Yes, just for the converter.

Jerry doesn't have one, or at least didn't a month or two ago. Check car-parts for the transmission, and start calling them to see if they'll sell just the converter. I called a dozen before I found one at this number: 978-537-2420. I don't remember the yard name or where it is. East coast somewhere I think. The problem is, most yards won't sell you just a converter. They don't like to split them from the tranny. This place happened to have "a bunch" of tranny's they've been sitting on for a while and decided they'd split one and sell me just the converter.
