I'm working on installing Hella 550's on my '00 4Runner but I'm pretty much electronically incompetent. The main directions seem fairly straight forward but they have a new type of switch so they added an insert on how to wire up the new switch except that it seems to contradict the main directions and I can't see how to tie it all in. Has anyone installed Hella 550's recently with this new switch? If so can you explain it in a way I can understand? Hopefully one of ya'll can help. Any help is appreciated.

Deron, When I installed my 4000s, I referenced the Hella instructions, but used a Toyota fog light switch to match the one already in my dash.
The lights either ground through their mounting bolt, or have a separate wire for grounding. I used on of the many 10 or 12mm bolts available behind the front bumper - make sure you get a good ground.
You'll have a power wire going from the battery to the Hella relay, a 'signal' wire going from a powered circuit to the relay, a wire leading from the switch to the relay, and a wire going from the relay to the lights. If I remember correctly. The switch may also wish to have a ground if it is illuminated.
The signal wire needs to be tapped into a circuit that is powered in order for the relay to send power to the lights. I believe I pulled from the "aux" fuse.
Hope that helps.

iirc that relay needs to be grounded - least it is on the 550s I set back up last weekend.
That'd leave 3 posts on it unless it's a 5 post relay. Then one wire would come in from the battery to the relay. This should be a gauge thicker than the rest of them and fused.
Another - probably doubled up, 2 wires into a single blade in other words - would run out to the lights.
The 4th should run in from the switch.
At the switch, 1 wire goes to ground. A second is that one going out to the relay and the third comes in from the circuit you tap (I used the parking lights).
