Just curious, What knife/knives do you usually carry? I have a Benchmade 690 and a Case Texas toothpick (medium) that I carry. I almost bought a ColdSteel Recon folder, tanto, to replace my Benchmade, but the thing is too big. I'm looking for a tanto folder with a axis or axis type lock, under $100. It's funny how people harrass you for having a pocket knife these days, but are so happy to use it when they need it.

I had a bench made... now some one else had it. I had a hole in the pocket of my trail pants. I am sure who ever owns it now enjoys it as much as I did.

I also have a gerber multi tool, that is great.

the swiss pocket garage,,,well the swiss champ as thier know,,has all the tools in a pinch.

and forr cutting a spiderco endura 2....I have had it for at least 6 years and never sharpened it (its serated) and I use it all the time around the farm and home.

I use to be able to take it on planes,,,but now,,,I would rather drive(not really) I just hate the fact that they TAKE things with no option to get them back,,,,thats simple theft, plain and simple!

I usually have my Benchmade Osborne with me. I like my Wayne Goddard Spyderco better, but the linen micarta is not as durable. The Benchmade is a great knife, and might be the shape you're looking for. It's a reverse tanto. I used to like serations, but I don't think I'd get them again.

For the field, you can't beat the Swiss Army Rucksack. It's got a locking blade and a nice long saw.

I forgot to add, when I am fishing at night, or am hiking alone I strap a big mother of a k-bar onto my boots.

Lots of good ones out there and mentioned here, but You should look at "Boker" also known as "tree brand" One of the very best out there. I'm on my second, as a cave in Montana seemed to swallow my first.
Also "United Cutlery" is well known for providing a very good product.
Search Ebay under the name of "Colt" and in "knives/swords" Colt has several models made by United and they are also very good.
Boker, and United Cutlery have made many knives for our military/special forces.

Everywhere you look in my house you'll see the Gerber name. Kitchen knives, camping gear, canoeing gear, in the truck, with my keys, etc. For quite some time I got a new Gerber blade for every gift giving occasion, my brother work for them for 12 years.
