4x4 Hub swap

Hey guys i'm doing some mods to a 93 runner, it has the orig automatic hubs on it and i want to try to get some better gas mileage. If i swap them over to a pair of Warn manual locks will this help me any??? Thanks for the help. I am trying to drive the truck to work and with gas prices going all over the place i need a cheaper route, any other gas saving ideas, also please advise. Much appreciated.

It will help with your gas mileage, however it's likely to be so slight you may not notice unless you track it closely. Manual hubs are a good swap anyway, less mechanical drag, less wear on CV boots, and they are a direct swap for your ADD flanges (you do not have automatic hubs).

well yes add eats up some fuel,,,,what year did they start putting those in,,,,??he said automatic hubs, not add, if so my bad

Do your self a favor and stay away from Warn hubs or for that matter any aftermarket hubs. Get some used Asisn Toyota hubs, for IFS they are a dime a dozen. One thing make sure you get the cone washers with them, I do not know for sure but I have heard (hearsay) that the cone washers run about $2.00 apiece from Toyota, Marlin may have them cheaper!!!!!

One thing make sure you get the cone washers with them, I do not know for sure but I have heard (hearsay) that the cone washers run about $2.00 apiece from Toyota, Marlin may have them cheaper!!!!! More importantly, I've never run across a dealer that has a dozen of them in stock. I always end up buying two here, three there, etc. As of late, I make a habit of buying a couple every time I'm there whether I need them or not. They just go in a baggie in my parts drawer until I need one.

The best way to get better mileage is to slow down. Drive 5 mph slower will get you probably 3 mpg better.
2000 Ext Cab SR5 4WD 2.7L 5-speed.

The ADD flanges also use the cone washers, so no need to source them (unless you lose them during removal).
