You need a new engine. Those words are like nails on a chalkboard. He said my crankshaft has to much play in it and is destroying my engine. That is why i am leaking oil. Anybody know where i can get a 92 amigo engine block in good shape for cheap.

This seems to be one of the best looking option I have seen.

I spoke with them earlier and they seemed pretty straight. Good luck

I assume you have the 4 cylinder 2.6?

You should be able to find them at any u pull it yard. And since most of them are hooked up with each other you should be able to locate one.

Or you could check advance auto for a complete long block. But I'd say that would be pretty pricy.

Someone on here very well might have a 2.6 laying around. You could put a post in talk for like "needed running 2.6" And you will probably find a few. People swap out 2.6's quite regularly. I know Randii has one but I don't know if it runs or not?? Do a username search for Randii and send him a private message. I know for a fact he has a 2.6 in his garage floor.

A buch of people are getting ready to meet up in moab. You could probably get someone to pick it up and drop it off for you. Seeing as Randii is in Cali.

Just a thought.

You don't want Randii's. Trust me. He tried what he saw on TV for the Duralube commercial. You know, running engine, no oil. It did not work out as planned.

You have a few options. One is to rebuild yours. I would assume your mechanic did not crack open the engine? Most likely, one or both of the thrust washers fell out and are lying in the oil pan. Depending on the damage, you might be able to salvage what you have. But it will depend on how much damage there is to the block and crank.

Next option is new, used or rebuilt. Either one is going to be in the $1200-$2000 range. I suggest not going used. I did once and luckily I was able to put a compression gauge on it and find out that the head gasket was blown and the valves were burnt. (Yeah, yeah, it blows 175 across all 4. Yeah right)

Sadly, you are up against a very expensive wall. Almost any of your options are going to cost about the same. Then there is labor if you are not going to do the work yourself. A full rebuild, done by you will cost at least $1500. You may be able to get away by cutting a few corners, but...that is a risky gamble.

C'mon, maybe a bit of an overbore, and a whole new reciprocating assembly, and it might be better than new... Damned oil line.

I'd be happy to help with transportation, though, if you find a motor within a couple of hours of the route between Sacramento and Moab.

i'll ask my mechanic tomorrow how bad the damage is. We replaced the seal on the oil pump since it was leaking oil and discovered the loose crankshaft. If i was able to rebuild my engine what would i need to replace?

If it is crankshaft end play, it may just need new thrust bearings. Unless damage is too far gone.
