Looking to get new tires, what to get?? #446660 05/06/04 06:42 PM

I need some new tires soon, one of bald on the inside, so I figure thats a sign for new tires.

What kind should I get? I want something that will ride smooth, and look good. I have the BFG ATs now, and I won't be buying another set this time, the ride is just loud and rough, and killing my MPG.
What tire should I get?

I am dealing with an issue with the new BFG AT's I just bought and the guy that runs the Road Force balance shop where I took them said to only buy Michelin or Bridgestone. He is an adviser to Hunter and they fly him out to St Louis to test out their equipment before they release it to the public. Just one opinion, but a pretty good one that follows mine and Gadget's experiences.

I'd say take a look at the bridgestone dueler a/t revo's....i replaced my bfg's about 9k ago and couldn't be happier. quiet on road, and grippy in the rain, not like the bfg's
check out the reviews at tirerack

Pirelli Scorpion A/T's, I have them on my Jeep and they're really good in the rain and snow and do great on neglected two track roads around my parents house in the Catskills. Also, I got the Bridgestones put on my g/fs 4Runner over a year ago and I can break them loose in the rain just touching the gas at a light. They lose traction as they get on in mileage, they have about 15K on them.

Bwahahahaha!

Seriously now, anyone have any experience with the Nitto's? I don't mean the 1" sidewall 20's either, a 265/75/16 is what I'm talking about. D or E rated, great for towing (Eric, you tow a jet ski or something like that IIRC.)

Yea I tow the jetski some, but we are gonna sell it sometime this summer, don't have too much time to ride it.

I'm gonna check out the Revos, where is the best place to find them?

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have used Michelin for years and drive a lot of miles. I got some of the Bridgestone Revos a couple of months ago and like them better than any tire I have ever had. Have not been in the rocks with them yet, but they are great on wet and dry pavement, pretty good in mud. Smooth quiet ride on the highway.

Is the ride smooth with the Revos???

Also, what size should I get? I just went to Columbia a few days ago, filled up and drove for 225 miles and when I got back I was a little below 1/4 tank left, now that's pretty crappy MPG. So I'm looking for a MPG increase.
