I'm looking at some FJ-60 Cruisers on e-bay but I don't know anything about them since I'm a Montero owner.

1. What year in the 80's did they switch to fuel-injection?
2. What to look out for.
3. Any tips ?

Thanks

I could be wrong, but I think fuel injection came on the 3FE which was introduced with the FJ62. 62s came out in the late '80s, around '88. If it's an automatic with rectangular headlights, it's a 62.

Look out for rust, intake manifold leaks, power steering pump leaks (into air pump), and t-case that won't stay in 4WD.

Here's a spec sheet I copied for you. I had an FJ62 until I it sold about 2 years ago and the guy I mainly 4 wheel with still has one. I loved everything about it, but the mpg is nothing to get excited about. I sold mine when a head cracked and wifey wanted a new 4Runner. Check the plugs for a milky white residue, that's bad. Antifreeze getting into the gas has been a complaint I've heard more than once. I'd vote for a 62 over a 60 series just for the fuel injection. No worries about float bowls draining on an incline and stalling with FI -

The FJ62 is distinguishable from the 60 series by its fuel injected 4.0 liter 6-cylinder 3F-EFI engine, automatic transmission, rectangular headlights, larger side view mirrors and power options.
