I have unbolted it and removed the wires but the space is tight...I was wondering if any body had any tricks to get the freakin thing out...sorry for tyhe dumb question but I dont wanna fumble around too much down there...

Look I don't know about 99, but on my 93 I thought that the exhaust option was the only way to go, but after a few hours of going crazy. if you remove front skid plate and hand over hand the starter fwd it comes out the front. I did it that way. good luck.

thanks guys... I was settled on removing the exhaust tommorow but I will look at the front skid plate again... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

You can sneak it out the front, but most that I've done have come out after the exhaust is moved. In my shop we all laugh at the gut that gets stuck doing a starter in a 'Zu. I spray down the exhaust bolts with penetrating oil on mine every time I change the oil. Maybe that way it will come apart easily when/if my starter goes. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />

seems like you could have made the job a bit easier removing the crossmember? The frame won't bend with that removed while it's just sitting static <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

thanks guys, I finished it yesterday...I hope none of you have to do that soon. I ended up removing the exhaust. I tried looking to pass it through the front, but no go...that engine is cramed down there...
