Getting the Wheeling Fever
We are in the process of getting a 2003 Sorento, it's wrecked and we will have to fix it. It will need a new rear end, rear drivers side quarter panel, and back drivers door. Anybody know were you can get these parts????????

Does anyone know what these get for gas mileage? We were also going to bid on a 2003 Ford Escape but this one was up first and ended up getting it for $2,000.00 less then the Escape.

thanks in advance. I will also be checking the salvage yards around Colorado.

didn't you also buy a wrecked Sportage and fix it up too?

as far as parts? there are a number of online companies that sell salvage and replacement body panels and such, but i don't think that means full doors, just outer skins and bumper covers and whatnot. just do a web search, i know i've found some stuff like front fenders for the Sportage before, but don't remember the web address.

good luck.

Yes we did fix up a Sportage and we still have it for now.
I hope to sell it since we have so many cars.

Thanks for the information, they are delivering the Kia today so I'll have more of an idea of what we will need.

From this side it doesn't look to bad, but I do have a little work ahead of myself but I hope to get it done by the first of July. I'm having someone else weld in the quarter panel for me, then I'll do the rest after that.

We gave him a call and he didn't have anything, but we did find a axle in Col. Springs so I went and picked it up yesterday. Seems like most of the parts we need are out East so I'm trying to find the most I can at one place then have it shipped at once.
The door we might be able to get at the dealer since the glass and everything is still good.
I hope to get the axle mounted, and take the interior out so we can start on the quarter panel.

Does anyone know if there is aftermarket parts to get better gas mileage on the Sorento? I can find aftermarket parts for the cars but not the SUV's.

Thanks for all the help.

I dont know of any parts for your rig yet = possibly because they are still too new. The tornado claims to give more horsepower & better fuel milage but ???

I dont know how much you know about fixing wrecked cars, just make sure you pull that quarter panel back out where it kinda used to be before you let anybody cut it off. Otherwise the new parts will never fit.

We got the new (used) axle on except for a couple parts I have to get from the dealer and it looks a lot better now, at least the wheel is going in the right directions.
We also pulled the interior out and it looks like we might get by with just putting on a skin instead of a quarter.
We were able to get the door to open so it opens and closes now.
We were also able to like KIAFREEKROB said to push out the quarter a little better then it was. Part of it we couldn't get to because of the inner part of the quarter so we will just leave that for the frame guy, he is the one that is going to finish the quarter for me. I am finding out some of the parts are just as cheap at the dealer (because of shipping) such as the door so we will order that Weds. I also can't buy shocks aftermarket so I have to buy that from the dealer, the shock was broke on that side but the other side looks fine, but I might just get a new pair to be safe. I also have the lower bar to buy and then put that and the coil back on and then this side will be ready to go.
Here is the latest picture I have.

I threw the tornado in mine when I was there in Nevada did a lot of driving the kids to thier dads house lots of mileage so I decided to buy that. I dont know exactly how much horse power but made it up the hills a bit easier and I did gain 2.5 miles a gallon. They claim higher but that is what I got. Worth it in the long run i think for a 60 dollar part when gas is 2 dollars a gallon.

Where can I get more information on the Tornado? If it would get me 2MPG better then what it is that would be helpful. I also saw on Ebay a filter like the K&N but different brand, has anyone used that before?

I was also wondering if anyone knows were the fuel cutoff is at? I can't get the Kia started and I see they have a fuel cutoff. I know on the Ford's its down by the pass. feet, but I looked there and didn't find anything.
I'll check with the dealer tomorrow if someone can't help me yet today.

http://www.autostreak.com/tornado/ That is one of many sites that have info on it. I also have the K&N drop in filter made the motor run a little more smooth and noticed a little bit of a snappier response in the gas pedal. I put the filter in after the tornado gave me another mile per gallon a total of 3.5 mpg. All cars are different though remember some may respond better some worse just giving my two cents from what I have done on my sportage.
