Getting the Wheeling Fever

I have a loud ticking coming from the passenger side exhaust cam on my '00 3.5 DOHC. I checked the clearance and it's at out tolerence. Has anyone reshimmed these? The dealer said the shim kit is over $200. Anyone got any spare sitting round? Made their own? Thanks!
