Getting the Wheeling Fever
Found a 4G32 (in a '79 Plymouth Sapporo) which I assume is a 1.6L. I have been looking at the engine tags and found a 4G62 (not a misprint. Motor is beltdriven OH cam in a D50)
On my '87 Monty, I was thinking about using the 904 automatic trans from a Sapporo or similar D50 into it, but have no idea on trans length or output spline count. (the 904 is 23 spline and std New Process/New Venture case)
I don't even know which transfercase is in there.
Since my daughter-in-law's '87 quit, I haven't gotten around to changing flywheel and starter(or anything for that matter) for awhile. I found a decent little Cherokee for her and swapped (those I can fix and find parts for easily)
I played with Sapporos, D50s and Colts back in the day so I have a little bit of an idea what I'm doing. Also being a mechanic for nearly 30 years helps. (I did a lot of Toyota diesel conversions recently in XJs)

Build your truck the head men say, but it must be built in such a way...

I got your message and I do still want to look at it, but I have to give finals this week and next. I'll give you a call.

I think the torqueflite was a KM146 in <87 gen1's and I'm sure it was a KM148 in 87 and up. M/t is a km145 in all models until they started using the V5MT?? 4G62 belt drive 2.0 was used in 86 and earlier along with 2.6 4G54.
