Getting the Wheeling Fever
'95 Rodeo (1st gen) ... as most of you know, the power locks are quite flimsy since all you do is pull the driver door lock up/down and the rest go up/down - there's no "button" for it on the panel. I've had the passenger door lock "broken" for a while now... have to lock/unlock that particular one manually... because my passengers pull on it before I can open it for them... and today my rear driver side decides to break because it's been pulled manually too much. Anyone else seeing this ?

I have keyless entry so this becomes more a P.I.T.A... it'll unlock ok, but never go back down unless I manually push it. Questions:

1) Is this something I can easily fix myself ? I recall asking a while ago and there's something with the actuators. Are the parts inexpensive and easy to fix ?

2) If I get a remote start system, that comes with a new keyless entry... will the guys fix these problems for me ?

3) More of a long shot... I've got dents on the passenger door anyway and since that lock is broken too... how easy is it to replace the entire door from one from the junkyard or something ? Any other ideas to find doors ?

Not yet, but my 95 Trooper does have a button on the panel.

I'd bet that the parts aren't too bad, even at the dealer, and that if you can find the broken parts on your vehicle that they'd be dirt cheap at a junkyard.

Probably not. Especially if it's a physical problem (as opposed to electrical).

Actually replacing the door shouldn't be too bad. If you don't mind a multi-colored vehicle, it should be even easier. Finding a junkyard vehicle with matching paint can be tough--even if the original paint was the same color. Aside from forums like this one (ITOG, PlanetIsuzoo) maybe eBay?

i have keyless entry +alarm on my car. I had it proffesionally installed. If it broke they said come back and they will fix it. SO it broke, i took it back. The guy said there is a little tiny plastic peice that gets brittle with age. He ordered a few of them (for future cars) from the stealership and fixed it for free. He said toyotas are real popular with doors breaking. You had to pay for an extra accuator right? ya i did 90 bucks!!! The insides are relativly easy to fix, you can rig it up to work. just open it up and look inside.

If it is unlocking, but not locking, I'll bet the actuator is slipping on the rod that unlocks the door. Pop off your panel and look at the connetion between the actuator and the stock rod.. There should be a little screw that you can tighten to hold the two together more firmly. This happened on my old RX7 (miss it now). Good luck.
