How fast do you guys drive your 22RE on the highway? It seems to love 55-60...I want to push it to 65, but it just doesnt feel right. Shift points are a little lower than Im used to as well...at about 2500 RPMs it wants a shift and it drops to a seemingly confortable 1700. All sounds well...just seems low since Im used to 2k and 3+k in the old TJ. Anything below 2k and it would grind and cough. But it would accel well into 3500 rpms. Anyway...different engines and all, but all the manuals Ive driven the RPMs were 2k-3k (all american cars though). Am I just not pushing it hard enough (yeah, Im scared to break it <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/baby.gif" alt="" />)

87' 4Runner with 22R-E...I keep it up about 2500 while cruising...still breaking it in.

88' 4x4 pickup...Cruise I-5 regularly at 75-80 pushing 3500 RPMs in 5th gear.

These engines need to be around 3,000 RPMs to be where they breath best...better breathing...better power.
