Getting the Wheeling Fever

Now that i have driven my 88 for a while and it seems to be a good truck i want to hop it up a little bit. Im big into the world of import drag racing and i just have to modify every car i own. I have been looking into the 7mgte swap and i think im going to go ahead with it. I plan to lift the truck about 4 inches to get 33s under it and that leads me to my question. I have a lot of friends (mostly with Chevys) that go offroad and so far i have gotten my butt handed to me on the trail. They tell me that the loft and the more horsepower is great but what i really lacked was traction. Granted my 21x10.5 bfg all terrains arent great but they were talking differentials. I know on my fwd racecar i use a atb (automatic torque biasing) diff which will transfer power 50-50 until 1 wheel slips then it will start applying more power to the other wheel until both are happy but is there anything available like this for the toyota trucks. One guy suggested lockers or even welding the front diff but id would rather spend the extra cash and do it right. I have read of people using the supra lsd but will it act like a welded diff under acceleration. What i am looking for is 4 wheels to all have power basically. Thanks for the help

If you plan on leaving it IFS, and want an LSD, get a Tru-Trak, no clutches all gears. Myself if I were going to leave it IFS, I would go with an ARB air locker!!!! I would put an ARB in the rear first. When engaged, ARB's are spools, all wheels driveing if installed F & R!!!!!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

yeah i plan on leaving it ifs. I like the idea of all gears in the there no clutches. Ill look into the arb gear. Do i need to keep a tank of air with me or can i just use say a small 12 volt air compressor. This truck is my everyday beater and i work constuction and have toolboxs behind the seats so space it limited.

just get an electric locker. To be honest, the late 80's supra's LSD diff will fit and work perfectly in it.
