what's the deal with a 95 SR? #465611 06/18/04 12:23 AM

greetings, mitsu gang! i'm not sure if this is where i should post this question, but your "Mitsu Talk" forum seems more about OT stuff, so here goes...
There's a 95 Montero SR available nearby (100K miles, $7K)
it's pretty well loaded...leather and all that stuff.
can you give me the lowdown on the these rigs? i seem to recall that you guys really love SRs. why? what about the engine (3.5, eh?)
is it gonna need a valve job at 120K miles, or was that a different engine?
i'm gonna check it out and compare it to a 96 trooper on the same lot (80K miles, $7K)
i must admit that i'm somewhat partial to the trooper, but that's only because i'm more familiar with them.
thanks,
Phil

Partly its because there were more 95srs made then any other Gen II. But they also had the most powerful engine, stock body lift, can run 35s with a ring and pinon swap, stock locker, adjustable transmission, and lifetime adjustable shocks. It has a lower plenum issue(300.00 part) and will require valve SEALS, not a full valve job. Smaller, more nimble and more capable then a stock Trooper and bullet proof.

1996 SR From the Area 51 Skunk Works. 37"BFG Tires, 5" lift, Rock Track 4:1 Case, Tom Woods Drive Shafts, Oasis Air, Front ARB, lifted gas tank, T-max winch and lots of stuff that cost too much.

Started in 92. Thats what 4hh is, 4h locks the t/case. One of the finest, and earliest systems, that absolutely rocks for snow and ice highway driving. Some early models came without ABS making the system incomplete though. 92-94 I think.
