...and NOT a "Knock-knock-knock"!!
Said sound is eminating from the passenger side, and appears to be heat related in that it quiets down at idle after a few minutes in park. Does my 3.5's cylinder head have rocker arms and can they be adjusted? Can that be what this is?
Your $.02 very much appreciated. Vacation and a long ride hauling a popup camper looms in two weeks!

The old toc, toc, toc... Ya that most likely a belt tensioner. At least thatÆs what it was in my case. I was thinking major engine problems cuz it started so suddenly. But no, just the belt tensioner.

Did it display the same heat related symptoms??
"Toc-toc-toc" when hot...then quiet within minutes at idle?

Ya, mine was really loud at start up then within about 5 or 6 minutes it was barely noticeable.
How long has it been since you have replaced belts and tensioner? If the belts look alittle cracked you might as well do it, and see if that fixes the sound.

I've seen a lot lately about replacing the tensioner. Could some explain why? If I'm thinking of the same part, it is a hard metal piece that attaches to a spring and has a bolt that allows for tightening/loosening right? What gets warn out on these to cause the symptoms above?
Since doing my engine I have a noise similar but more like a tick that also is prominent at start-up to warmed-up and then disappears.

Since doing my engine I have a noise similar but more like a tick that also is prominent at start-up to warmed-up and then disappears. Interesting in that my symptoms are magnified by higher engine temps, and definitely minimized after a couple minutes running at idle...eventually to the point of disappearing completly... Sorry...I tend to repeat myself when under stress... ...repeat myself whe- damn!

OK...Last call- AND I MEAN THAT!
I haven't had the time to get to Isuzu, my "personal" mechanic has been ill, I have to tow my newly bought pop-up ( )and I am treading water here on this issue...
Any more insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance- you guys are the best.
