when/how does it brake? durning cranking? sliping it? are you trying to get your jeep to wheel stand? when does it go out?

well, i took the inspection plates off and what i found is that i jumped to conclusions....the flywheel was indeed making noise, but what it was a broken motor mount and the flexing of everything was the culprit. thank goodness as i wasn't looking forward to moving the tranny back again.rob

Interesting, I did not know that was possible. I broke both motor mounts and the tranny mount 36 mi out in the mts and drove it home with the shifter deflecting 1.5 feet to the side every time I accelerated. My flywheel survived, what amazed me was that every thing else survived too. Driving with a free floating drive train was an experience I dont want to repeat.

well, the flywheel seems to have survived, it was rubbing when the motor flexed, same sound as when i cracked the flywheel several months ago. rob
