Has anyone looked into putting disc brakes on the rear of a Wrangler, maybe from a Grand wagon? what about the emergency brake and proportioning between front & rear

They make conversions for going from drum to disk(check out www.quadratec.com). Its not cheap but the breaking power is unmatched by the drum. I would do this compared with converting from a grand wagon, but I dont have much mechanical skills either. Hope this helps.

i havn't done the swap as of yet, but you need to get the disc on, mount the calipers, attach the E-brake, and put in a new proportioning valve. most disc have either a mini internal drum to act as the E-brake or some clever little mechanism up in the caliper.

You didn't mention which axle you have, but here's a conversion from a Grand Cherokee to a TJ Dana 44.
The Grand Wagoneer (only made through 1991) never had rear discs.

this was a link from some guy on some 'board(maybe even this one, i don't remeber but i saved it). it's drilled drums. his situation was 4 wheel drums and he said it worked great. who knows though. i was thinking about doing it to my rear brakes. it can't hurt to try and it'll be cheap. if they work better, great. if not, oh well. i don't want to dump $$ into my dana 44 because i may have to upgrade if it doesn't hold up to bigger tires on the rocks. i'll have to wait and see. i only have 33's now. http://www.chtopping.com/CustomRod4/
