Getting the Wheeling Fever
I was talking to a guy yesterday about installing 33s on my stock wheels and he had told me that it will hit my front sway bar and that i should remove it. He had also said that it doesnt effect it at all and that it will still be fine on the streets. All i plan to do to the truck is use the ball joint 1.5" lift with some heavy duty torsion bars in the front and just block the rear. All im looking for is to get 33s, i dont offroad much but i like to have a little fun every other month or so. Anyways, has anyone ever taken their front sway bar off and how has it effected driving on the street?

I noticed on mine that the A-arm busings were all rusted out and that they are not making any contact with the suspension at all, so I have essentially been driving without it since I bought the truck and it seems fine to me. I don't do well on corners at highway speeds but hey its a truck not a race car. I am gonna take it off next weekend and descide about it later. I might just do a SAS and forget about it.

Body Damage is Cool
I took mine off a few years ago and promptly sold it. I didn't need it at all. There is more body roll of course but its really nice offroad.

i took the one of my solid axle and i cant even tell its gone...

i mean its a truck not a car, its got a high center of gravity so dont try and drive it like a car

someone said that since the back end doesnt have a sway bar the front one is sort of pointless becuase the back is still able to role... and the front doesnt so it essentially twists the body

I would say you just have to be aware that it handles differently in an emergency situation than it did before with the sway bars. I would say slowdown about 10mph, if you normally drive 70mph on the freeway slow down to 60mph. If you normally take a curve at 40mph slow down to 30mph. I am just saying you are doing something that will worsened the on-road handling of your truck and you may not notice your limits have changed because you donÆt always drive your truck to its limits (except in an emergency situation).

Did exactly what you are doing, went 25mm Sway away. Don't have the ball joint spacers yet. Didn't feel a thing with out them. I love removing redundant things to clean up and simplify.

Do it and don't worry about it.
I run 31's w/ OME medy duty coils, super soft rear shocks and 25 mm saw torsions for heavy bumper. I removed both of my sway bars and have had no problems in the windy mountains of WV and VA. You will notice a difference but just conpensate for the little extra body roll. If you just remove the front, you may not even notice. I notice most of the lean in the rear. Just my thoughs.

I took the front off and have noticed no differance; obviously cause the bushings were soo worn out. IS the rear one that 1/4 inch steel thing that goes from one side of the chasis to the rear axle? I looks soo flimsy, but I'm not going to remove it cause it isn't holding me back right now and if it helps rear body roll on the road then great.

I believe what you are referring to is the rear brake proportioning valve. There is a thin metal rod mounted to the rear axel which extends upwards to the proportioning valve which is located along the frame rail. As the weight in the back of the bed increases/decreases, the rod moves up/down, which adjusts the amount of rear braking... Is this what you are referring to???

That could be it. So here is a question: I put in a block lift that puts the rear about 1" higher then stock. Does this mean that I will have less braking power?
