I'm new to the group and have looked through most of the achives but I have yet to see anything about my problem.

The 4wd light on the dash of my 90 mighty max 3.0 use to come on but now has failed to do so. I have check the light its self and it is not burnt. If anybody has help please let me know.

How you doin' MIGHTY1.
I think you'll find the reason no one has responded, is cos this problem is more common than a "flat tyre".
Search the achives again, properly (it's good to learn early, how this "search" works ).
It's been documented many times.

It's time for my pill now!

I wish I could help.

Any way I would have to disagree with skinny. The wheel lock light gets brought up a lot but I dont believe the 4wd light gets brought up much.

Then again mine works so if it is brought up I probably would not pay it much attention.

Give the guy a break...it's his first and only post!

It kills me how quick people are to yell at someone to "use the search" --

Not everyone is an avid board reader, so some things might get missed...and ya' some topics are continually regurgitated and it gets to be a drag, but some people just need a little help...

I think we as a group should be more friendly and eager to help the newbies...rather than scare them away with unanswered questions.

MIGHTY1 - Stick around...someone should be able to help you.

Edit your profile information to list your year vehicle and mods it has, transmission etc.
Verify that the 4wd is actually working and that should help narrow down the problem some. If it does work, then it may be a switch or a wire.

pmontero did a nice post on 4wd lights, the switches in the t/case that control them, and what goes wrong with them.

The first thing I'd check is the bulb. The top of the instrument cluster pops off out of spring clips upwards if you tug gently. This exposes the rear of the instrument cluster. The bulbs are in little quarter turn holders in the p-c board, and are a push in fit in the holder. Swap with one that works and engage 4wd and see if it lights up. If not, start the wirie/switch tracing per pmontero's post.

Run the search on user pmontero and 4wd lights search string in last 3 months.

Welcome aboard.

yeah, the only problems I had with the 4wd Light was after I did the clutch, the wire that comes out of the transfercase was broken off. My best guess is to check the bulb.

Does the 4wd work?

anways... welcome smile

welcome to the wire ... your going to get alot of "do a search"... sometimes youll find what your looking for sometimes you wont. as for your little problem, if the 4wd works, chase your wires on the t-case and look for the loose & or corroded wires. good luck .

Well i tried the search that "fasteddy" recommeded but I came up with nothing???? I checked the 4wd and it still works and the bulb is not burnt so i guess it must be a wire. Thanks everyone for the help but since the 4wd works I am not going to get dirty just to check the wire, I will wait till it is time to check the oil and do both at the sametime. Once again thanks for the help.

Try here .

You have to enter the forum to search, and either/both key words and/or poster name, AND the time period to search (which defaults to one week - relatively useless).
