Need a Spot
Okay Guys,
You helped me with my '94 Wrangler back in the winter so I have a new one for you. I have a '96 G.C. that suddenly is stalling for no reason that I can find. It's a 4.0L, MPI, 4X4 with 120K miles. I have changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, cleaned the fuel line manually, cleaned the injectors and fuel rail, cleaned the throttle body and intake manifold manually, added "Sea Foam" to the fuel. I have tried to recover codes according to "Haynes" to no avail. The check engine light is on now but was not on when it all started 2 weeks ago. It is still stalling but it's very sporratic. Some days it runs great & other days it misses, sputters, dies, and will not start until it sits for 5-10 minutes. Any ideas?????????

first try pulling the codes again. you cycle the key on then off the on then off then on on the third time leave it on and it should flash. it sounds like it might be spark related. keep a spark plug tester with you and when it does it, check to make sure you have a spark. the 2 snesors the jeep need to run are... crank and cam shaft position snesor (map is nice to but not NEEDED to run) everything else is jsut to trim the fuel mix. i bet if you aren't getting spark and fuel its one of those 2

I did finally get the codes. Crankshaft Pos. Sensor, Camshaft Pos. Sensor, and Throttle Pos. Sensor. I have found the throttle pos sensor and I will replace it tomorrow. I am having trouble locating the other 2 locally but I will keep looking.
On another not, do you (or anyone else) know where I can buy an electronic diagnostic tool to retrieve the codes (and reset them) on both my 96 Cherokee and my 94 Wrangler?
Thanks.

if you want a facy code reader go to kregen or napa... both those vehicles should have the ability to get the codes for free..... which code was first? i would fix the first code first then clear them (disconnect the bat.) then see if the resurface. sometimes one bad part can affect others.
