Hi,

Does anybody know the free height of the Eibach rear springs? I think the stock rear springs are about 10.43".

Thanks.

Don't know off hand but do a search for Eibach and check through the threads. I beleive it was posted in a couple of threads awhile back.

Hi tlab,

I searched thru thousands of posts both here and on the Yahoo group and the only thing that I was able to find was a referance that they might be about 1" longer than stock. I was hoping to find something more definitive than that.

i don't think their free standing length is much different from the stock coils, but they do have more winds in the coil and they have a higher rate, so once installed, they do not compress as much. not sure why you need the the free length measurement. so?

Hi Dave,

For shock length and for air bladder sizing.

what i think you mean is that you want to get a shock that will top out before the coils fall out? and an airbag that will not try to expand the coil further than it's free length? hmmmm... that could be difficult anyway. the only airbags i know of for the Sportage are for the stock coil height, which would work easily with a small spacer platform built up in the center of the lower coil plate, or something like that, for the airbag to sit on. as for the extension- well, i'am sure Dennis Thompson can attest to how much travel you can expect before the coil will fall out, in fact, he may still have his worn-out Eibachs to get an estimated measurement for you. PM him.

I threw them out. I do know that with a 24" (if I rember right) shock and the 2" spacer the Eibachs will fall out at full extition. The Eibach ride height is 1 1/2" over stock in the rear so for new shocks I wouldn't go more the 2" over stock.

Hi Dave,

I am looking into both airbags to replace the springs and the airbags that fit inside of the coils. I have found bags that fit inside but are 2" longer than the ones that Airlift puts in their #60752 kit. I ordered a pair yesterday.

Out of curiosity, what is the free length of your 4" lift rear coils?

Thanks,

honestly, i don't know- i have all the kits shipped directly from the coil maker to the buyer and mine are sagged, but i can give you an estimate when i get home. also, either Kungpow or Shifter26 took some pics of the coils with a tape measure through the middle- check with them.
