Hi All,

Last weekend I put some airbags inside of my stock rear springs. Airlift has a kit for the Sportage (#60752) but I felt that the 4.25" airbags that are in that kit were too short. I got the kit for the Nissan Pathfinder (#60742) which comes with 6 inch long airbags. I cut out two disks from an old mouse pad about 3.5 inch diameter with a 3/8 inch center hole to protect the bottom of the bags. The Sportage kit comes with similar disks but the Pathfinder kit doesn't have them.

The longer airbags fit just fine. Filled up to 30 psi, they lifted the rear of the Sportage about 1.5 inches. The cornering is much better and I no longer bottom out going over dips in the road. First I had them plumbed individually but it reduced the low speed articulation. I added a crossover hose with a valve so air could flow from one bag to the other with the valve open. I have been driving with the valve closed on the road and open when I am offroad.

Overall I am satisfied with the improvements but I think it would be better with Eiback rear springs (and less air pressure) instead of the stock springs. Next, I plan on a full rear air suspension.

sounds good, heard of the cross-linking idea before, but not with bags- with air-shocks. this would be really cool with some flex pics and close-ups.
