Getting the Wheeling Fever
I just mounted up a set of 255/85 R16's on my 04 Tacoma Double Cab. No lift was required, just some minor trimming to the plastic covering the pinch weld, and the rear fender flare lip.

I still plan to install a 1-1.5" lift using Donahoe and Deaver pieces, but this is a good start.

Here are the pictures

Those look really good on there. Can you detect a power loss going up in sizes without regearing?

I could really notice the difference in acceleration and braking. In addition to the affect on gearing (because of the increased diameter), the weight is also a factor. These tires and wheels weight 30lbs. more than stock. I will likely re-gear to 4.88 or 5.29 and add an ARB locker in the coming months to compensate.

a few questions, if I may:
how is the road noise of the replacements? (I have that tread type on my Jeep and the tire noise is a bit tiresome on the freeway)
why replace the stock wheels? (the black wheels DO look HOT!)
were your stock tires already worn out, or you wanted more aggressive off road tires?
my stock white letter BFG's already look like crap from some mild rock climbing in the Sierras (only 11k on the vehicle)

The road noise is noticable but not too bad as the truck pretty well insulated. I also have the same tires on my Jeep Wrangler, and the noise is much more pronounced.

I replaced the stock wheels to go with a stronger, easier to repair wheel. There is a weight penalty though.

The stock tires are great for most situations, but I wanted the additional traction in mud and snow, and the additional clearance of about 1.25"

The sierras are a great place to explore. One of my favorite all time camping areas is the Laurel Lakes near Mammoth.

I gaurantee you will have problems with those wheels and tires in a couple of months. Look at how many weights you have on the outside already. I would prepare a battle plan with the place you bought them, because you will be fighting them to keep them balanced. I have the same setup and they were good for about 2 months. i now have to get them balanced every 2-3 weeks.

Thanks for the advice and comments!

I did notice the one tire/rim combo (passenger rear) has too many weights. I will likely take that one back and have them "index" the tire differently on the wheel to adjust. I actually have 2 spares (6) tires total, so I will just swap out one of the others for now. The other tires are ok in the weight catagory.

These tires were actually provided from one of my sponsors, Big O tires, so I don't anticipate any issues on service.

I like the T100! One of my favorite vehicles. You also live in a great area to enjoy it
