Body Damage is Cool
my buddy can't get his shifter off his puegot yj tranny. i'm gonna go help him but i've never even seen one of these. is there anything that would keep this shifter from coming out? just trying to get some info before i waste a bunch of time looking at it when i go over to help him. i would think there are some bolts on top holding it in and once those are removed, the shifter should come out right? is there anything else that needs to be addressed?

I believe the puegot shifter has a retainer ring just around the shifter rod that has to be pushed in (by your fingers) and twisted counter clockwise. Then, this retainer will "pop" up and you can remove the shifter.
