Well, my 30x9.5-15 mud tires from Hi-Tec Retreading are getting old and tired. Get it, tired? haha...
I am going on a road trip soon so I think I'm gonna get new tires. I am currently running 30's with about a 3.5 inch spring lift and 1.5 inch body lift, and 1 inch Spidertrax wheel spacers to space out the rims 1 inch. There looks to be plenty of room for 31's, that's not the issue, the issue is power loss.
Do you think there will be a noticeable power loss going from 30's to 31's?
Thanks for any advice.

I doubt you will notice much of a difference at all between the two.

I run 30" ATs in the summer and 31" MTs in the winter and the power differance is more than you would think for just a 1" increase. I still think the power with the 31s is livable enough that when my 30s ware out I will replace them with 31s. Dennis

I ran 31x12.5 Boggers & found my 5th gear to be useless. The added ground clearance was nice, but with a tire that wide alot of trimming was nessasary. Even trimming the fenders back even with the rocker panel would still rub the fender. At that time I had about 4" of suspension lift & 1 1/2 body lift. If ya go with 31's do not go as wide as I did. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/rockfreek/Rokia/MVC-030S.jpgThis photo is before the SAS with those tires

arer you kidding, go with the biggest tire you can possibly fit, always. if that is the 31, go for it, if not, get the 30.

With the lift you got, you should have NO problem with 31/10-50's. You'll get a little rubbing on the rear shock, but you get that anyway with the stock tires. I eliminated the rub by removing the cover of the shock with a grinder.

My wheels are space out an inch farther than stock so I might not rub on that shock. Here you can see that I have some room to spare with the 30's: ![[Linked Image]](http://cleedo.com/sportage1.jpg)

i recommend at least a 32, maybe even a 33, as long as the cost is not prohibitive. you have plenty of room for it, except you may need to trim a couple small areas where they'll rub- back side of front fenders, firewall seam, etc.

I'd love to get some 32's or maybe 33-9/50's(less trimming needed), but I worry about the gas milleage, I travel to Mexico a lot with the gas there at $2.50, also the rear differential bearings tend to go faster when you get bigger tires, and finally, these darn BFG TKO's, lasts for ever. Maybe I should just go crazy one day and get those 33's.

Well, too late for second thoughts now, I pulled the trigger! The 31's are ordered and on their way! I got the Hi-Tec Retreads OTR Mud tires with their exclusive Green Diamond embedded carbide crystals (not available anywhere else in the USA). The green diamonds will help a lot with the slick roads we get during monsoon season, as well as making driving on ice easier when I go North to the snow. I'm excited! These Green Diamond things seem to be a great invention, and are known to actually make the tire last longer too. They can be used year-round with no ill effects, and they work about as well as studs when driving on ice, according to testimonials I have read. I especially like the idea considering how these tires are mud tires so they have less surface area contacting the pavement. Hi-Tec Retreading is the only place you can get Green Diamond tires in the USA. If you live anywhere with slippery roads, you should read about this product: http://www.high-tec-retreading.com/diamond.html
