I tried to remove the side molding on my 98 T100 Not easy and i messed up the paint becasue i couldn't get the sticky tape off after i removed the molding. So i will try again tonight on another spot.
I heated it up with a heat gun and then pulled it off which left the tape, Then i tried mineral spirts to remove the sticky didn't work so i went to wet sand paper 1000 grit and that is when i messed up the paint...Anyone have any ideas they can shoot at me???

Hose it down with GooGone or a similar citrus-based product and scrape it off using the edge of a credit card. Best if you can park it in the sun (or use your heat gun) to soften the adhesive, then spray, scrape, spray, scrape. If you can cut through the glue/tape in different spots (basically hack into it wherever) to the paint with the corner of the credit card (then spray more GooGone) it will help also. The plastic edge really does well at not scratching the paint.
Dunno what to tell you about the paint, though, better get Maaco.

Eh, 1000 grit is pretty fine sandpaper. You may be able to polish that out starting with a coarse polish and working your way to a fine one. I've got a smidge of detailing knowledge, so PM me or e-mail me if you'd like some more help.
Be patient with the adhesive though... take your time. Goo gone is great stuff for this application. As well, Avon's Skin-so-soft is a great adhesive remover. It smells good and is gentle as all get out. Don't know if you'd have access to that though.

Is there a differance in the paint color when the molding is removed. I mean can you tell there used to be molding?

I have used laquer thinner in the past to remove and clean residue left over from the glue. Use small amounts and gently rub. If you use to much lacquer thinner (like dousing )you can damage the clear coat (or your brain ) Follow up with a good soap and water wash and wax. It is possible that there might be 'shawdowing' after the moulding is removed. I remove the hood decals off of my old '84 and you could definately tell where they once were (the paint was shinier and a slightly different color)

I used a item called an "eraser" that I bought from an autoparts store. You hook it up to drill but you got to be careful not to burn your paint. I got all of mine off with some patience but on the last couple of inches got in a hurry and burnt the paint. Still alot easier than anything else I tried.

ur, 3M makes a special solvent for removing this stuff. It literally crystalizes the glue and you take it off layer after layer and it won't hurt the paint at all. If you go to a good part store ask them for the 3M stuff to remove trim with. OR you can look at the 3M trim tape and it will tell you what to remove the old stuff with ... Or look at this link 3M Wow... that was a long link. OR... You can use this tape strip wheel some feller mentioned above. 3M Again long link!

Ditto what spotshooter said.
I'm planning on pulling the huge decal off the tailgate this weekend. A friend of mine who runs the body and detail depts at the local Toyota dealership gave me a can of 3M remover and 2 scapers. One scraper looks like a plastic tongue depressor, to get it started and the other looks like a thin plastic spatula end, to work the last of the glue off. He did advise covering the bumper with a plastic sheet as any 3M remover that runs down the tailgate onto the bumper could fade the black plastic on top slightly.
My friend said they use 3M remover in the body and detail shop all the time and that's good enough for me -
