Here it goes guys...
Many of you know that I have been working on my trooper for some time now. I have been doing most of my work on a different chasie. Anyways I but a battery in my trooper yesturday and it cranked right up. Put it in gear and it didn't move. I tried every gear and also two wheel, four low and four high nothing just sits still. I messed with it for about ten mins. and then I just cut it off.
My trooper hasn't been on the road for alittle ovewr a year now. I mover it about two months ago to were it sits now. I had no proble then I even road it up a rock pile or two.
You can feel it go into gear but it just wont move. The center fource clutch has less than 5000 miles on it is it possible that the clutch is stock ingaged????

PS: It is a 2.8 v6 with the 5 speed trany

Later,
Daniel

Frozen parking brake? You didn't just put in some tera lows did you?

I had simialr problems with my syncro gear wanted to grab the four wheel drive low gear and put everything into a bind. I couldn't go anywhere in any gear except four wheel low.

Nope parking brake is fine. Nope never installed the teras in this case.

I got my wife to pull me in it this afternoon. It rolls fine. The I put it in gear while she was pulling and it did nothing. This is a five speed so it should chank by letting the clutch out while being pulled. It doesn't matter what gear I am in or if it is in 4 or 2 wheel drive. The trooper just acts like it is in neuturel (spelling?).

It seems that you have eliminated nearly everything except the clutch. I would check the following:

Is there fluid in the reservoir for the clutch?

(This will take two people)
Do the clutch forks move when the clutch is depressed?

Yeap checked that out today aswell. I pop the boot off the slave cylender and looked up in there ( cann't see very much) however it looks as if everthing is working like it should. The fluid is fine aswell. I guess the only thing left to do is pull the tranny and look at the clutch.

What's got me all is that I drove it no more then a few months ago and it worked fine the clutch has hardly any miles on it. I had the flywheel machined when I installed the clutch so I have not a clue as to do what is going on here.

From what I can gather, your clutch is not engaged to the flywheel. Somehow its frozen away from the flywheel. COuld there be corrosion in there? Who knows, maybe some furry animal or some big bug got up there an did some damage. Does the clutch pedal feel "normal"? If not, then theres definitely something binding somwhere.

Have you tried just pumping the clutch?? Is there NO pedal at all?

Mine did that exact same thing when I first got it back after having the new clutch and tranny put in. I FREAKED when I let the clutch out and the damn thing stayed running and it was in gear.

Id try pumping the clutch a few times then trying. Or do what the other guys said hehe
