I am driving to a buddies and the rodeo starts hesitating when I give it gas, so I pull off the interstate and go to turn around to go home and pick up another car as I was already late, the hesitation gets worse and I will give it gas and it doesnt move, doesnt rev, stays at the same RPM.... YET I can push the clutch in and it will rev to redline if I want... Anywho, I keep cruising trying to limp it home and notice its getting HOT, so I pull off, let it cool, and try again and it gets HOT again. So fast its like the temp gauge goes with the speedo ?!?! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> I call EVERY person in my cell phone at least twice trying to get a ride, they are either not answering, out of town or something. I even called ex-girlfriends trying to get home offering 50 bucks to anyone who would come and get me, I must have called 60 people....no luck.... So I let it cool for at least 40 mins, get it home by getting it going then shutting it off and coasting and starting that whole process again <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

Any ideas? I assumed a simple fuel delivery problem, but the overheating thing makes me thing something otherwise, not to mention I could push the clutch in and it would rev.... Also, when I stopped on a slope I can hear some fluid slopping around, almost seems like its behind me, but I could be wrong....

All I know is Im tired of this, and am about to go finance another truck/suv which I really cant afford right now <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

FYI: 93 Rodeo, 3.2 SOHC Stock drivetrain/tire size 5-speed, water/coolant was checked about 1.5 weeks ago and topped off

Well...no promises but

I had an O2 sensor go bad on my '95 3.2 SOHC OBD I engine mated to a 4 speed autotranny and development the following symptoms.
1) When warmed up I had no power...top speed of 25 mph/2000 rpm. I could gun it to redline when in neutral, but it would choke itself and almost die out.
2) When cold, no problem with power (ECU doesn't look for information from the O2 sensors).
3) Engine warmed up rapidly, but never came close to overheating (0 degrees celcius outside).
4) Took forever for the check engine light to come on.
5) Black soot pouring out of the exhaust when engine was warm and I gave it some gas.

Just something to think about.

that kind of sounds like it could be my problem as I drove it more this morning....

Topped off radiator, and that seems to be stopping the overheating....imagine that <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

It is stalling out every-so-often its very inconsistent, but usually happen once in a driving trip (appr 1-4 miles)

And, as you said, only was after the engine heated up, this morning after topping off I drove for probably 1.5-2 miles with no symptoms....

Where can I pick up the 02 sensor at and how hard is it to replace.....

You should be able to get the O2 sensor at any parts store. Look to spend around $70 for it. ADvance auto should have it. Check websites. If you go to www.advanceautoparts.com you can search for the part and check availability in your area. They are not hard to change at all. Atleast mines not. Just be sure to do it when the motor is cold, that way you dont burn yourself.

To make a short story long, the '00 Amigo, 3.2 liter, I bought had an overheat problem when I bought it. Changed out the thermostat, the water pump, and the coolant. Talk about corrosion! Whoever owned it before me never put anything but water in the radiator! Anyway, after doing all this, it still overheated, top radiator hose too hot to touch, lower hose a little cooler? I noticed the AC condenser fan would not run all the time. So, doing some trouble shooting, I started it up in my driveway, let it get hot, and then killed the engine and turned the key back on to see how long the condenser fan would run. The fan ran about 20 seconds and quit, so I tried to restart the engine, it would not start. Pulled out my voltage/ohm meter and checked the battery, 8.9 volts. All I can figure is the alternator was keeping the battery light off when the engine was running but the bad battery was screwing up the electronics, including the ECM that controls everything. The car never gave me a problem starting before this.?.? So check the battery. Bought a new battery, no more overheating!!
