I was just at my local Kia dealer and checked a few things for prices. I found out that the part number for the rear LSD for the 26 spline axles is wrong on the Kia Parts and Accessories website. It shows the part number for the 28 spline LSD.
The price for the 26 spline and the 28 spline LSD's are the same but the price of the whole assembly including ring and pinion gear for the 26 spline axles is about twice the price of the one for the 28 spline axles.
They quoted me $420 for the whole assembly for the 28 spline axles. (I get a good discount)
The 26 spline was over twice the price.
It looks like if you have a 26 spline axle, it would be best to get the LSD unit by itself, probably aftermarket (Eaton) but the 28 spline complete assembly might be cheaper from the dealership if you can work a discount.

Hey, that's a really good price. I think I paid 450 for the LSD alone and over 300 for installation. I received the 28 spline LSD and had to get a 26 straight from Eaton. They were very polite and let me keep the old one, which I sold and made up for the double installation. Getting the whole thing together is nice and easier to install. The factory LSD is from Eaton and the same they sell in the aftermarket. They are only made in Korea.

The Eaton is only made in Korea? That's not what I expected. The factory vac. hubs are made in USA and shipped to Korea.

Eaton is a British company, so I find it improbable that they would go to the trouble of manufacturing just one model in and for Korea. My guess is that it would be an import from the UK, as the front hubs are from the USA.

after talking with a guy from Eaton for a couple years, he said the company was trying to restructure in such a way that they would be dealing a lot less with individuals and the aftermarket and much more with OEM's. my take on this is that Eaton produces the items for Kia and therefore, Kia keeps stock of them, not Eaton, and therefore, they may only be available from Korea.

You can go to Eaton on line and get a list of vendors. It is not too difficult to install with proper instructions. I installed mine and disinstalled it 3 times in one day, don't ask why...
