How do aftermarket brake pads compare to stock? My 91 4Runner brakes fine, but would just replacing the pads make a noticable difference? I would like to improve the braking, without going broke.
91 4Runner V6 Auto 4x4 Performance Products progressive rear springs, Doetsch Tech MV 12 shocks, Rancho 9000 front shocks.

I've used PBR brake pads ever since my 1st replacement. Couldn't ask for better braking. Still have the original rotors. Got them here http://www.bap-geon.com/main.htmlDidn't get them online, there are 3 locations here in Houston. I get about 35K out of a set, and I drive 'em hard. They are lifetime also....... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Factory pads are middle of the road. There are worse, and there are better. Raybestos is about the worst there is. Porterfield is one of the best. Most truck folk find the OEM pads and shoes to be quite good for their use.

PBR/Axxis are the best pads for the money($30.~$40.). They work better than stock and cost less.
