Getting the Wheeling Fever
I got an new axle housing today from my dad but we are not sure if it will work with my truck. I have a 88 v6 xcab 4x4. Im excited to check it out visually but its too dark out right now so i hope you guys might have the knowledge to help me. I measured the housing i got and its 53 1/4 from flange to flange. From what i remember it looks to be identical from what it in mine but im not sure. It has a 8 7/8 diameter on the 3rd member bolt holes. Thank you for any help you guys can give.

nope nothing worng, he works for a toyota dealer and they were going to throw it out. They sometimes do that with parts that have been sitting on the shelves for too long. The housing is brand new. I took a quick look at it this morning and it also has the 3" axle tubes and it has a K6 on the center near the fill hole.

That's a 79-'85 axle which is narrower than what you currently have by about 3.5".

It's also a 4cyl 8" diff (if stock) vs the stronger V6 diff you have now. Smaller drums too I think.

No, I think the '79-85 axle tubes are about 2.5" in diameter. The later ones are about 3".

Hmmm... maybe we should add this to the FAQ...

I have no idea, if anyone is near me and wants it swing by and you can have it. I have no plans of using it i just hate to see good parts go to waste. I cant guarantee what it fits but the price is right. All i know is that it fits a Toyota truck. PM me for directions.
