I bought a fuse block from NAPA to install so I can run some fog lights. When you run power to the fuse block is it necessary to have a circuit breaker or fuse in the wire from the battery to the fuse block? I've read info here and at yotatech where a fuse is installed in-line between the battery and the fuse block. Is this for heavy duty loads like running a winch, or is it necessary for 2 or 3 sets of fog lights?
I bought some harbor freight fog lights that I will use as back-up lights mounted to the tow hitch. I modified some electrical boxes to protect the lights and they can be strapped to the hitch with hose clamps.
I have not done much wiring before so I am trying to learn how to do this correctly the first time.
When I install the wiring for the fog lights, is it necessar to tap into the headlights or parking lights? I know that to be legal they shouldn't come on except for when I am backing up, but I want the option to use them as utility lights even if other lights are not on. I have several wiring diagrams from fog light manufacturers and tech write-ups, but I am still unsure.

I have some 10 ga wire, 14 ga wire, fuse block, relay for lights (from NAPA), toyota fog light switch (on order), wiring from harbor freight lights, blue female disconnects, and fuse taps.

If the fuse box is near the battery you can probably get away without an inline, but I'd use one if possible.
