I got a tool from Autozone one time for that nut and it was a piece of pipe with 4 or 5 notches cut in it. It worked great and was the cheapest damn socket I've ever seen!!

I used a hub socket for a Jeep. It was a cheap stamped thing but it worked great. I don't think that my buddy paid more than $10 for it at the local 4x4 shop.
2000 Ext Cab SR5 4WD 2.7L 5-speed.

54mm . $18 from the snap-on man. but 3/4 drive so may need appropriate adapter.

Or, 2 1/8" socket. Closest to 54MM and works. Still kinda hard to find though.
